This image arrived by email with an unverified but plausible explanation. The car was spotted in a Waldorf IHOP parking lot by by a Transportation Supervisor who was so astounded that he ran to buy a camera to capture the moment forever. In addition to the lumber load of 2x4's, 4x4's, and OSB, the back seat was piled with 10 80-pound bags of concrete. Both back tires were trashed and the back shocks were driven up through the floorboard. The police arrived, and the driver, who had been running up and down Route 925 in the background, jogged back to the car. He was barely prevented from cutting the twine holding the load while he was standing behind the car. Police estimated the VW Jetta was carrying 3000 pounds of building supplies. The vehicle had been loaded at Home Depot, where the store manager had required the customer sign a waiver. The presence of exhaust fumes indicates that the car is still running. The owner of the car, which had Florida plates and was headed for Annapolis, wins an Honorable Mention for his heroic efforts to rid himself of that pesky phenomenon known as life.
